Mumbai businessman sentenced to 3 years in prison, molested this famous actress

The 41-year-old businessman, Vikas Sachdev arrested and sentenced to 3 years in prison on accounts of molesting the then teen actor on Delhi-Mumbai flight in 2017.

The special court for sexual offenses against children convicted Mumbai-based businessman Vikas Sachdev for molesting child actor in 2017 on a Mumbai to Delhi flight. The convict was charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

Special judge AD Deo sentenced him to a minimum of three years in prison for being guilty of section 354 (Molestation) of Indian Penal Code. He was also fined Rs 25,500 on account of his lawyer’s plea stating that he was a first-time offender, only earning member of his family and was a good-natured man.

Under the investigations, the prosecution had investigated seven witnesses including the ex-actor, a passenger and two cabin crew members. Last month, the defence lawyer had submitted a report of ‘non-guilty Vikas’ because the ex-actor failed to appear in court for examination. The report stated that no such event had ever occurred as he rubbished the entire case.

In 2017, the award-winning child actor had shared the sad incident via an Instagram Live Stream. Revealing the details of the molestation she said at first she mistook it for flight turbulence but eventually, she sensed his maligned intentions. When she woke up, the accused was spotted rubbing her back and neck with his foot. She had tried recording the incident on the Air Vistara flight but couldn’t because the lights were too dim.

On 10 December 2017, the Mumbai police arrested Vikas Sachdeva but was later released. His wife had petitioned the court saying that Vikas was going through a mental trauma as he had just come from a funeral. He wasn’t in his right frame of mind. Fast-forward to 2020, the molester is behind bars but it changed the actor’s life forever. Apparently, she quit the entertainment industry exactly one year after the case.
