Ajay Devgn took to social media to confirm that he will star in the Bollywood remake of Tamil film ‘Kaithi’. The film will release in theaters on 12 February 2021.
Earlier there were interesting rumors of Ajay Devgn being considered for the lead role in the Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Kaithi’. On Friday, Ajay Devgn took to Twitter to announce his association with ‘Kaithi’ due to release early next year. The film producer S R Prabhu too shared his excitement as he confirmed the news of Ajay Devgn starring in the film.

‘Kaithi’, an action-thriller opened to massive success at the Box Office in 2019. The Tamil film ‘Kaithi’ revolves around the life of an ex-convict who struggles a lifetime to meet with his daughter. On his way, he’s accompanied by an injured Police officer who helps him reach his ultimate destination.
The Tamil version of ‘Kaithi’ had south-star Karthik in the lead role. The rumors were rife that the makers were considering Hrithik Roshan or Salman Khan to play the lead role. Recently, it was reported that the ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ will be seen stepping into Karthik’s shoes for the Bollywood remake. There have been no announcements regarding the leading actress of the film.
The Bollywood ‘Kaithi’ will be produced by Reliance Entertainment along with the Chennai-based film company Dream Warrior Pictures, founded by brothers S.R. Prakashbabu and S.R. Prabhu. Talking about the film Prabhu said, it is a ‘no heroine, no songs and 100 per cent action’ kind of film that would excite Ajay Devgn fans. On the work front, Ajay Devgn tasted massive success with his 100th film ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ released on 10 January. The film collected a total of Rs 267.50 crore in seven weeks since its release.
On the otehr hand, Ajay Devgn will be seen in Amit Sharma’s Maidaan, a sports biopic based on the life of football legend Syed Abdul Rahim. He will also be seen in ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ and ‘Chanakya’ in 2020 and 2021.
