The Khiladi of Bollywood is unstoppable as he signed yet another film and it’s a remake of Tamil blockbuster hit Kaththi.
Akshay Kumar is the man of the moment. There is no stopping him. Consistently delivering 3-4 movies a year, the Khiladi of Bollywood has signed yet another film. Yes, you heard it right.
Akshay will play the lead role in a remake of the 2014’s blockbuster Tamil movie Kaththi which had Vijay and Samantha Akkineni in the lead role. The movie will be directed by Mission Mangal director Jagan Shakti.
Akshay Kumar will have a double role in the movie. The original movie was directed by AR Murugadoss. The Hindi remake has been titled Ikka.
Ikka was in Akshay Kumar’s list form a long time. It was planned in 2015 only but the actor wasn’t able to take a call then.
Talking about the remake, the director Jagan Shakti revealed that the remake was put on the backseat after he decided to do Mission Mangal. “But now Ikka will go on the floors very soon,” he said.
Kaththi was based on the social issue of farmer-suicides driven by corporate encroachment.
“It will resonate with the underprivileged section of the society. With my second directorial, I want to explore action which is presented in a sleek way,” Jagan said.
Akshay Kumar has as many as six confirmed releases in the next 18 months. Last week, he had Bachchan Pandey. To be directed by Farhad Shamji, Bachchan Pandey is slated to release on Christmas 2020.
He is currently busy with the promotions of ‘Mission Mangal’, scheduled for 15 Aug 2019 release. His next will be multi-starrer comedy Housefull 4 scheduled for Diwali 2019 release.
In December, Akshay will be seen in a drama movie titled Good News which also stars Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kiara Advani.
Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi will be his first release of 2020. The remake of Telugu blockbuster Kanchana, Laxmmi Bomb is slated for 5 June 2020 release.
