National award-winning actor Akshay Kumar has been in news for his citizenship after he was missing from the polling booths in Mumbai. The netizens started raised questions on his citizenship for not casting vote.
Akshay came in news for his “non-political” interview with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Last month Modi had tagged Akshay in a tweet, asking him to encourage voting.
When a reporter asked about his absence from the polling booth, the actor simply smiled and told reporter, “Chaliye Beta,” before walking off.
For a very long time, there has been speculation about the Akshay’s nationality. Fed up by the trolls and questions, Akshay Kumar recently came out and Twitter and claims that he holds a Canadian passport but his love for India is unconditional.

Now the users have started questioning Akshay for winning Best Actor Award at the 64th National Film Awards for Rustom in 2016.
Writer Apurva Asrani slammed Akshay Kumar on Twitter. Apurva is the writer of 2016 film starrer Aligarh. Manoj Bajpayee could have won best actor National award that year.
He wrote, “Are Canadian citizens eligible for India’s National Awards? The year (2016) Akshay Kumar won Best Actor, we were expecting Manoj Bajpayee to win for Aligarh. If the jury/ministry has made an error in Kumar’s case, will there be a re-vote?”
Yes, this is a very important question. Are Canadian citizens eligible for India's National Awards? The year (2016) Akshay Kumar won 'Best Actor', we were expecting Manoj Bajpayee to win for Aligarh. If the jury/ministry has made an error in Kumar's case, will there be a revote?? https://t.co/CvFRzw5aXS

Well, Akshay Kumar’s National Award win couldn’t go well with many at the time too. Several questions were asked as there were few very good contenders for the award.
