Commando 3 Day 1 Box Office Collection: Vidyut’s Action thriller starts slow

Vidyut Jammwal’s action-thriller ‘Commando 3’ started off slow on Day 1. Despite hype around the cast and high-octane action sequences, the films fails to make an everlasting impression on the audiences.

Directed by Aditya Datt, ‘Commando 3’ is an action-entertainer from the ‘Commando’ franchise. The film release in 2456 screens in India and 283 screens overseas markets with 9046 shows per day in India. ‘Commando 3’ is Vidyut Jammwal’s biggest release till date.

In this film, the makers are cashing in on Vidyut’s action hero image. Besides, Vidyut is in his usual kick-ass form, slaying the big screen with one punch and gunshot at a time.

The film collected a Rs 4.75 crores on the first day of its release. The number is a disappointment for the film makers who were expecting better results from the action movie. Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Aashin A. Shah and Reliance Entertainment, ‘Commando 3’ is slowly heading towards becoming a Box Office dud.

As per ace critic Taran Adarsh, ‘Commando 3’ is a mediocre film which is likely to excite the action buffs only. He said the film is a good watch only up til the first half. The second is loaded with expected twists, thin plot line but some great acting performance by  Vidyut Jammwal and Gulshan Deviah. The pre-bookings were great and all but the Day  collections are nothing close to what we had expected.

Adah Sharma and debutante Angira Dhar also have meek roles in the film. It is safe to say that the ladies were put on screen only to add to the glamour quotient. Besides, the film was heavily criticized on Twitter because of Vidyut Jammwal’s entry scene. The scene had a goon lift a little school girl’s skirt. Vidyut entered the scene like a true hero who came to rescue those young girls. As heroic as it may sound, the viewers were outraged by the scene. The makers said releasing a 5-minute clip as Vidyut’s entry scene seemed like a ‘bold’ move. They were hoping to be innovative but ended up being distasteful.

The wrestlers of India also feel targeted and violated as their profession is being put under the line.
