Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Shadaa’ takes over ‘Kabir Singh’ box-office collection in Canada

Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Shadaa’ is enjoying a massive Box-Office collection in Canada where it has dethroned ‘Kabir Singh’ to become the highest grosser of 2019 in the country.

Undoubtedly, ‘Kabir Singh’ has broken several Box-Office records to become the highest grosser of 2019 in with a Box-Office collection of around Rs 270 crore. The film has enjoyed a great run at the Box-office so far and will soon be joining the 300-crore club.

The film clashed with Diljit Dosanjh-Sonam Bajwa’s comedy flick, ‘Shadaa’ which emerged as the highest-grossing Punjabi film in India.

However, in Canada Shahid-Kiara’s magic didn’t cast the same spell instead; Diljit-Sonam starrer ‘Shadaa’ made an impactful presence.

‘Shadaa’ has gone to become the highest-grossing movie of 2019 in Canada, beating the collections of ‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Gully Boy’.

In a total period of 31 days, Diljit’s ‘Shadaa’ has earned 1.4$ million while ‘Kabir Singh’ could barely make it to 1$ million.

Until now, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Gully Boy’ remained at the top of the charts with a collection of 1.15$ million. ‘Shadaa’ has become an instant hit amongst the Punjabi and Sikh community of Canada.

Interestingly, 5 out of the top 10 grossing films of 2019 in Canada are the ones in the Punjabi language.

The audience enjoys Punjabi movies more than the Salman, Shahid or Ranveer starre big-budgeted flicks. Shockingly, Diljit’s fan following has crossed that of Bhaijaan’s in Canada.

While ‘Shadaa’ tops the list of highest-grossing films, Bharat stands at the last spot with nearly half the collection of ‘Shadaa’.

The top 10 grosser of 2019 in Canada are – Shadaa, Gully Boy, Uri – The Surgical Strike, Muklawa, Kesari, Manje Bistre 2, Kalank, Guddiyan Patole and Bharat.

On the work front, Diljit is busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Arjun Patiala’ with Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma. The film is set to release on Friday, 26 July 2019.
