Salman Khan took to Twitter to share the poster of Suraj Pancholi’s next film ‘Hawa Singh’. It’s a biopic based on the life of legendary sports star Hawa Singh who is popularly known as the Father of Indian boxing.
‘Hawa Singh’ had been announced way back in 2017 with news of actor Jon Abraham starring in the lead role. However, destiny played its role and Suraj Pancholi finally landed his big Bollywood project. Suraj will be essaying the role of world-renowned boxing champion Hawa Singh’. The film will be tracing the journey of heavyweight boxer Sardar Hawa Singh from his early village days to boxing ring.
The poster looks every bit fierce and intriguing. A beefed-up Suraj Panchli looks utterly pumped guzzling down a glass of lassi in the middle of the boxing ring. Suraj sports a ‘langot’ with boxing gloves hanging around one arm. The other hand is covered with bandage indicating a possible injury. Salman Khan shared the poster on his Twitter timeline. Suraj responded by saying that he won’t let his ‘sir’ down.

‘Hawa Singh’ will be directed by Prakash Nambiar and produced by Sam S Fernandes and Kamlesh Singh Kushwaha. The film will cover the life of 6’1 feet Hawa Singh who joined the Indian Army in 1956 at the age of 19. He later defeated Mohabbat Singh to win the Western Command Boxing Championship.
Since then, the sportsman has dominated the national circuit with 11 consecutive championships from 1961 to 1972. He has set a record that is yet to be broken by any of the heavyweight lifting champions. Hawa Singh has also been honoured with Arjuna Award and the Dronacharya Award.
Suraj is currently prepping up for his role in the sports biopic. He will go through professional training and skill-learning to master his role of a heavyweight boxer in the film. The film will be shot in Haryana soon.
