Lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar shamed filmmaker Shekar Kapur for claiming 1987 Bollywood flick ‘Mr India’ as his project. He said, ‘It wasn’t your idea. It wasn’t your dream.’

Bollywood filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar announced the remake of 197 cult-classic ‘Mr India’ a couple of days ago. Ever since the announcement, numerous artists associated with the film have spoken against the makers. Sonam Kapoor and Shekhar Kapur took to Twitter to slam the director who didn’t seek their permission or give due credits to them before announcing their masterpiece. The ‘Mr India’ remake has sparked a Twitter war were Bollywood celebrities associated/not associated are pitted against each other.

This time none other than the ace lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar slammed Shekar Kapur for unrighteous claim on ‘Mr India’. Javed Akhtar took to Twitter to put Shekhar Kapur in his place as he said that it was Javed Saheb and Salim Khan who wrote the film, dialogues, situation, scenes and even the title. He added that although Shekhar Kapur executed his ideas very well; he wasn’t the man behind the creation. He said, ‘It wasn’t your idea. It wasn’t your dream.’

This comes as a response to Shekhar Kapur’s tweet where he questioned that if someone is remaking a film based on a director’s very successful work, does the Director have no creative rights over what he/she created? According to him, he wasn’t really hurt by the fact that no one bothered to seek his permission or give due credits.
