Directed by Anees Bazmee, ‘Pagalpanti’ has failed to impress the audience. The comedy film with an ensemble cast starring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, Illeana D’Cruz, Kirti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela and Pulkit Samrat has collected Rs 18.25 crores total in 3 days of its release.
‘Pagalpanti’ opened in theaters with a poor Box Office collection of Rs 5 crores. On Saturday, the occupancy rate increased by 25% but total collections recorded were close to Rs 6.25 crores.
The film failed to show any major growth of Saturday and Sunday. The net collections of ‘Pagalpanti’ stand at Rs 18.25 crores. Right now, ‘Pagalpanti’ collections are in a bad shape that can only be fixed by a miracle. The mixed responses and bad critic reviews have also crippled any leftover chances of ‘Pagalpanti’ succeeding at the Box Office.
The film released on 22 November has suffered at the hands of ‘poor film making’ and Hollywood’s ‘Frozen 2’ release. Actress Priyanka Chopra and sister Parineeti Chopra have dubbed for the Hindi version of ‘Frozen 2’. The film has done an outstanding business of Rs 15.25 crores in 3 days.
‘Pagalpanti’ comes as a cheap rip-off of ‘Housefull 4’ which also starred Kirti Kharbanda. Looks like the filmmakers have very easily replicated the ‘Housefull 4 success formula’. The same old ‘secret masala’ of a comedy film with an ensemble cast, pretty-looking heroines and two funny madmen seems to have failed for ‘Pagalpanti’.
‘Pagalpanti’ marks John Abraham’s little come back in the comedy genre of cinema which he nailed in the first place. The actor was last seen four years ago in ‘Welcome Back’ performing a comic role. Anil Kapoor was also his co-star in the film. Since then, John Abraham has had several fabulous releases in the action cinema genre. The films like ‘Satymev Jayate’, ‘Force’, ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’ are among other John Abraham films that have done well at the Box Office.
