Panipat 2nd Day Box Office Collection: After a poor opening, war-drama Panipat is looking for a huge growth on day 2, estimated to earn around Rs 5 crore.
Despite positive reviews, Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic war-drama Panipat got off to an ordinary opening. At the box office, the film received poor response on Friday and managed to collect only Rs 4.12 crore on 2395 screens.
Panipat opened below our expectations. The below-par opening is a big setback as the budget of the film is around Rs 100 crore. However, good news for the makers is that word of mouth of the audience is positive. The critics have also appreciated it.
#Panipat shows an upward trend on Day 2… #Maharashtra [#Mumbai circuit especially] is performing best… Needs to cover lost ground on Day 3, especially in circuits with strong presence of multiplexes… Fri 4.12 cr, Sat 5.78 cr. Total: ₹ 9.90 cr. #India biz.

Positive word of mouth has started to come in play as the film is looking for good growth in numbers on Saturday. As per the reports coming, Panipat recorded around 25% occupancy in the morning shows on Saturday. This is almost double compared to the morning shows on the first day.
The film witnessed good growth as the day progresses and is all set to end the second day on a strong note. If Panipat shows huge growth in the evening and night shows then it can touch Rs 10 crore. As per our estimate, Panipat 2nd day collection would be around Rs 8 crore. This will not be enough as the budget is on a higher side.
The estimated budget of Panipat is around Rs 100 crore including the promotion and advertising cost. It needs to earn at least Rs 120 crore to be in a safe zone for the makers. It will be considered hit if it crosses Rs 160 crore mark.
Panipat needs to play a big inning at the box office. However, the big problem for the film is that it has to compete with several biggies. This week it is competing with Pati Patni Aur Woh. From next week it has to compete with Mardaani 2 and The Body.
