Panipat Day 7 Box Office Collection, Arjun-Sanjay Starrer Continues To Struggle

Panipat 7th Day Box Office Collection: Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat continues to struggle, failed to cross Rs 30 crore mark in the first week.

Panipat starring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon hit the theatres on 6 Dec 2019 along with Pati Patni Aur Woh. The epic-war drama film is based on ‘Third Battle of Panipat’ fought between the Maratha empire and Afghan king Ahmad Shah Abdali in 1761. Despite receiving good reviews, Panipat has emerged as one of the biggest flops of the year.

Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, the film failed to get going at the box office. It is struggling at the box office from the first day itself. Released on December 6, the film collected Rs 4.12 crore on Friday and Rs 5.78 crore on Saturday. It collected Rs 7.78 crore on Sunday to end the first weekend on a positive note.

However, the film saw a huge drop on Monday and continues to garner low numbers on weekdays. It collected Rs 2.59 crore on Monday and Rs 2.21 crore on Tuesday, 1.70 Crore on Wednesday. Now, on Thursday or 7th day, the film’s collection drops further. As per early estimates, Panipat 7th day box office collection is around Rs 1 crore only. The film struggled for 25.18 crore in a week.

Jat groups in Haryana and Rajasthan are protesting against the film, primarily over the portrayal of legendary Jat ruler Maharaja Surajmal. In view of this, the film’s screening has been discontinued in almost half of the theatres in Rajasthan. Due to these protests, the film’s business has been affected in the north Indian states.

With the current trend, Panipat will wrap up its box office journey sooner than expected. There is not much hope left for it. It is all set to become one of the biggest flops of 2019. Arjun Kapoor’s poor run continues as Panipat will be his third consecutive box office disaster after Namaste England and India’s Most Wanted.
