Saif Ali Khan agreed to do the film besides the lead actor, Siddhant Chaturvedi and newcomer Sharvari Wagh but just last week he backed out stating no valid reason.
The makers of Bunty Aur Babli 2 are in a fizzy state of mind. The film that was supposed to go on floors soon has now been stalled indefinitely because of Saif Ali Khan’s last-minute exit.
The talented actor has worked with the production house, Yash Raj Films in hit films like Hum Tum (2004), Salaam Namaste (2005) and Tara Rum Pum (2007). But it seems he wasn’t too sure about their latest venture ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’.
Before finalizing on Saif Ali Khan, the production house had approached Abhishek Bachchan who seemed like a fair choice as he had played the lead role in the first edition of the film too. However, Abhishek was too quick to pass on the project as he didn’t find the role ‘meaty enough’.
After Saif’s sudden refusal, the makers are left with no choice but to go from door-to-door looking for their supporting actor who’d be willing to share screen space with Siddhant Chaturvedi from Gully Boy fame.
Directed by Shaad Ali, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ raked in rave reviews and Box-Office collection in 2005. The con-comic film starred Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan swooped in for an item number. The ‘Kajra Re’ song from Bunty Aur Babli’ continues to be a favourite even today.
‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ will be directed by Varun V Sharma who has previously assisted Ali Abbas Zafar. Who do you think will finally land the second lead in ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’? Will a newbie do justice to Amitabh Bachchan’s role?
