Tiger Shroff, Ananya Pandey and Tara Sutaria starrer teen film ‘Student Of The Year 2’ is all set to cross 50 crore mark in India. After a good opening with the collection of 38.83 crores, the movie manages to hold well at the box office.
Recent reports suggest that Student Of The Year 2 dropped by around 55% compared to the collection on Friday (12.06 crores). As per early estimates, Student Of The Year 2 4th day box office collection would be around 5.5 crores. Thus, the total collection after 4 days stands at 43+ crores. The move is all set to cross 50 crore mark.
The drop in the collection is more than it should have been. However, it could have been worse if the growth in the evening and nights shows wasn’t there.
First day collection: 12.06 crores
Second day collection: 14.02 crores
Third day collection: 12.75 crores
First weekend collection: 38.83 crores
Fourth day collection: 5.5 crores (early estimates)
A considerable drop on Monday clearly suggests that the film will struggle in the coming days. However, it should be able to go past 55 crore mark in the first week.
SOTY 2 budget (including promotion and advertising cost) is 70 crores. It needs to earn 75+ crores to become a box office hit.
Ajay Devgn starrer De De Pyaar De is releasing on coming Friday. So, practically SOTY 2 has only 3 days left to make as much money as it can. The hold in the second week will decide if it can cross 75 crore mark.
Meanwhile, SOTY 2 is receiving poor reviews on social media. The users are thrashing it and calling it another Nepotism project.
Student Of The Year 2 is a sequel to 2012 hit film Student Of The Year. It marks the debut of Tara Sutaria and Chunky Pandey daughter Ananya Panday. The movie is produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta under Dharma Productions.
