Taapsee Pannu will star in biopic film based on the life of Rupa Singh, the first female horse jokey of India. She will collaborate again with Shivam Nair, director of her previous film ‘Naam Shabana’.
Taapsee Pannu is on fire right now. She has been one of the most sought after Bollywood actress after the massive success of ‘PINK’ also starring Amitabh Bachchan. Unlike most of her competitors, Taapsee has had a mix of glam and serious roles in her career so far.
She has enacted in movies like ‘Badla’, ‘Naam Shabana’ to also masala films like ‘Judwaa 2’ and upcoming film ‘Saandh Ki Aankh’. The lean actress has impressed Bollywood fraternity with her super-fine acting skills and attractive screen presence.
She has a series of interesting films lined up. She will next be seen in ‘Mission Mangal’ in an ensemble cast featuring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan among others. Next, she will be seen essaying the role of India’s oldest female sharpshooter of India along with Bhumi Pednekar.
Post these; she will commence shooting for a South film while Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad and Anurag Kashyap’s directorial will go on the floors after that. Reports suggest that she has also been approached for Mithali Raj’s biopic.
Apart from all of these, she has also been approached for Rupa Singh’s biopic which will be directed by the director of ‘Naam Shabana’ which had Taapsee in the leading role.
According to reports, the film script is yet to be completed and makers will only begin shooting in the second half of 2020. Until then Shivam and Taapsee will be winding up with their prior commitments.
Taapsee seems like the right choice for a film based on the life of a lady who carved out her identity in a largely-male-dominated profession. Taapsee has also maintained her dignity and power in a rather patriarchial set up that we have in the industry.
