Manoj Muntshir took to Instagram to share the reason behind him boycotting the awards shows, In a lengthy Instagram post, Manoj wrote that even if he tried all his life, he wouldn’t be able to write a better song than ‘Teri Mitti’ and lines like ‘Tu Kahti Thee Tera Chaand Hoon Main Aur Chaand Humesha Rahta hai’. He said it would be disrespectful of his profession and art if he continued to attend the award shows that conveniently ignored to honor a song that made a million Indians shed a tear. In his post, he also wrote that he will never attend any award show whatsoever until his last breath.
Fellow and lyricist Neelesh Mishra took to Twitter to support Manoj Muntshir. He shared his two cents on Manoj’s stand stating that even he had penned lyrics for 30+ Bollywood films but never did he win an award. In a sarcastic tone, he said that perhaps his songs deserved to win after all. Playback singer and music composer Neha Bhasin also took to Twitter as support Manoj’s decision of standing against Filmfare Awards that differentiated between who is important and who is not. She openly criticized Filmfare Awards for not recognizing the work of good artists just enough. Ghazal singer Tauseef Akhtar too came out in support of Manoj.
We music industry make your films as much as your actors do @filmfare and we are stars too, our fans love us with all their might. If i can afford a certain standard of living n stature i refuse to be treated otherwise
I #BoycottFilmFare thank u @manojmuntashir for speaking up— Neha Bhasin (@nehabhasin4u) February 16, 2020
Read this poignant note by lyricist @manojmuntashir about his beautiful song “Mitti”. Don’t know which song won, but I was reminded of how I often felt: I wrote songs in 30+ films but NEVER won an award. Perhaps some of my songs did deserve something! I stand with you, Manoj. pic.twitter.com/hXokxjXLld

I hope you take this criticism constructivsly we attend @filmfare eyes with our family to celebrate our art but thethe discrimination between who u consider imp n not is apparent every year. Fighting for a car, a room,a seat etc is not a mark of celebration or acceptance. https://t.co/g6CFoaTDzj
