Based on the surgical strike executed by the Indian army, Uri: The Surgical Strike is having a dream run at the box office. Released on 11 January along with The Accidental Prime Minister, Uri has emerged as the first big hit film of 2019.
The film had a superb opening week at the domestic box office as it earned around 70 crores. Already a big hit, Uri has exceeded all expectations and is on course to become the first blockbuster of 2019.
Uri First Week Collection: Box Office Journey
Released on 2200 screens, Uri got off to an exceptional opening as it earned 8.2 crores on its first day. The film witnessed huge growth on Saturday and Sunday to end the first weekend with the collection of 35.73 crores.
Benefitted by partial holidays on Monday and Tuesday, Uri remained rock-solid at the box office throughout the weekdays. It earned around 35 crores on weekdays to take its first week total to 70 crores.
Vicky Kaushal’s biggest solo hit
Uri: The Surgical Strike is now the biggest hit and the top grosser of Vicky Kaushal. Although last year release Raazi earned 123 crores, it was more an Alia Bhatt film.

Uri: The Surgical Strike has definitely exceeded expectations. While the trade experts were expecting it to earn 50 crores in its lifetime, it earned 70 crores in the first week itself.
Estimated to be made on a budget of around 30 crores, it has emerged as the first super hit Bollywood film of 2019. The power of strong content has once again worked at the box office. With the current trend, Uri has a good chance to enter 100 crore club and emerge as the first blockbuster of 2019.
