Beginning next year, DU will offer PG admissions through CUET. The executive council passed the resolution.
The University of Delhi will begin offering postgraduate admission through CUET in the 2023 academic year. The Executive Council of Delhi University passed the resolution on Thursday.
A committee of 10 people proposed this idea of changing the admission pattern for postgraduate courses for the sessions 2023–24. Up until this point, 50% of the postgraduate course seats were given to students who had done their bachelor’s at DU based on merit.
Resolution Passed By The Executive Council Of Delhi University
The Delhi University Executive Committee proposed that admission to all postgraduate courses will be done through a single window mechanism, and that is CUET-PG. All the candidates who want admission to PG courses at DU have to appear for the CUET-PG exam.
The Executive Committee also suggested that separate merit lists be prepared for the candidates who clear the CUET-PG and those belonging to the other category of candidates who previously used to appear in the postgraduate entrance test.
According to the committee, DU will prioritise the candidates on the merit list who used to appear in the DU entrance test.
Basis On Which The Merit List Will Be Prepared
The priority for PG admission will be defined as follows: The erstwhile category of candidates who used to seek admissions through Postgraduate Entrance Test will comprise the first 50% of seats and will include the candidates who qualify in this Common University Entrance Test depending on his/her eligibility for appearing in the test under this category.”
The remaining 50 percent of the seats will be provided for candidates who seek admission by obtaining an eligible bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi.
