IIT Indore: The Indian Institute of Technology Indore was established in 2009 in Madhya Pradesh and is one of the eight second-generation IITs. IITI is given the status of an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The institute is ranked 14th for engineering as per the NIRF ranking for 2023.

The institute consists of 11 departments and 9 centres, providing more than 40 courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. IITI is an autonomous public technical university that is recognised and approved by the AICTE and UGC.

Being a part of the IIT group, the flagship courses of IITI are B.Tech. and M.Tech. Admission to all courses is also done through national-level exams. The highest package recorded for the years 2022–23 was INR 68 LPA.

IIT Indore Admission 2023 

The institute offers admission for various UG, PG, and PhD programmes. The courses offered by the institute are B.Tech., M.Tech., MSc., MS (Research), and Doctor of Philosophy. IITI also offers five-year B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes. The institute has also started four new B.Tech. programmes and six new M.Tech. programmes in 2023, for which admissions will also be conducted. The institute provides admission on the basis of scores in JEE, GATE, NET, and JAM.

Important Dates

Entrance Exam 

IIT Indore, just like every IIT, only accepts rank or merit from a national-level entrance exam. Below are the names of the courses and the exams you need to qualify for IIT Indore:

• B.E./B.Tech – JEE Mains + JEE Advanced + JOSAA Counseling
• M.E./M.Tech – GATE + COAP Counseling/JEE Main/JEE Advanced
• M.Sc – IIT-JAM/GATE.Ph.D. – GATE/ UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET

Cut-off 

JoSAA is responsible for deciding and declaring the cutoff required for admission in the B.Tech course at IITI. COAP is the body conducting admissions for M.Tech. To ensure your selection in IITI, you must hold a good rank in JEE Advanced or any other paper. 

The cutoff for admission depends on factors like the rank of the student, the number of applicants for the course, the availability of seats for the course in the college, the difficulty level of the paper, etc. Candidates must also have a minimum percentage in the 12th or equivalent exam or UG exam.

IIT Indore Ranking

IITI is an institute of national importance and is recognised by AICTE and UGC. According to NIRF 2023, the institute is ranked 28th overall, 14th for engineering, and 21st for research. The QS World University Ranking has ranked the institute 396–700 globally. The IIRF has ranked the B.Tech. courses of the institute 17th out of 192 colleges in India in 2022.

How to Apply for IIT Indore 2023

JOSAA is the authority that regulates the admission of students to IITs for B.Tech. courses. For admission, a candidate needs to register and succeed in the JEE Mains and JEE Advance. You can refer below for more details on how to apply for a B.Tech. at IIT Indore:

• Give the JEE Advanced paper and make sure to attain a good rank, as it will increase your chance of being admitted to IITI.
• JOSAA counselling for seat allotment is the next round in this process.
• You have to register for JOSAA counselling using your JEE Main application number and Main or Advanced password.
• Check the details that you entered during JEE Main registration and update your password.
• Here you are also required to fill in the name of the college, IIT Indore, of your choice, along with the course.
• During the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling session, a list will be prepared containing the opening and closing ranks for different colleges.
• If you make it to the list for IITI, you will be called for document verification.
• After it, you will be admitted to the course of your choice, and you will be required to pay the admission fee.

IITI provides scholarships to meritorious students who are financially weak and underprivileged. It is an aid directed towards the betterment of the students’ futures so that they can continue their studies without any worry. Fee waivers and pocket allowances are the main features of such scholarships. Scholarships offered by the institute are as follows:

IIT Indore Placement

The placement brochure issued by IITI for the years 2022–23 shows placement records for all the courses provided by the institute. The placement rate for B.Tech. was recorded at 89.76%, 65.38% for M.Tech., 65% for M.Sc., and at 63.16% for MS. The highest package offered for UG courses was INR 68 LPA to students of B.Tech computer science, and for PG courses it was INR 40 LPA to MS students.
