The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is established by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). The Joint Seat Allocation Authority conducts the JoSAA counselling every year.
The JoSAA counselling is conducted for admission in top technical institutes across the country. The institutes include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 33 Other-Government Aided Technical Institutes across the country.

After the release of the JoSAA 2022 seat allotment results, candidates will have 3 options with them and they have to choose one of them.
Freeze: This option will indicate that it’s a final ‘lock’ on the seat offered. The candidate will not appear for any other counselling and once freeze is accepted, the seat is provisionally allotted to the candidate.
Float – The float option indicates that the candidate accepts the seat that has been assigned to them. However, if admission to a higher-priority academic programme is offered, they may accept a seat in subsequent rounds of JoSAA Counselling.
Float: Selecting this option means the candidate accepts the designated seat. However, if admission is given to a higher-preference academic programme, they can accept a seat in the JoSAA counselling process’ later phases.
JoSAA 2022 Counselling Schedule
As per the JoSAA schedule, the round 2 seat allocation process is scheduled from September 28 to October 2. The round 3 is scheduled from October 3 to 7, round 4 from October 8 to 11, round 5- October 12 to 15, round 6- October 16 to 17.
