SIT Tumkur: Siddaganga Institute of Technology was established by the Sree Siddaganga Education Society in 1963 and is located in Tumkur, Karnataka. SIT is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The institute is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and has been accredited by NAAC with an “A” grade.

UGC approves the UG courses in SIT. It consists of 18 departments which include management, math, computer science, physics, etc., divided into 14 UG, 9 PG, and 14 PhD programmes. The institute is renowned for catering to M.E./M.Tech., MBA/PGDM, MCA, B.E./B.Tech., and B.Arch. courses.

Admission to UG courses such as B.E./B.Tech is done through the marks or ranks obtained by students in any state or national-level test.

Cut-off  

The university releases the cutoff on its official website. Along with the cutoff, a student is also required to hold additional eligibility, i.e., 45% in the 10 + 2 examinations with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and Electronics as optional subjects.

SIT has been accredited by NAAC with an “A” grade, and most of the UG courses have been accredited by the NBA. The institute is ranked 97th in the engineering category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MHRD, Govt. of India. SIT is approved by AICTE. How to Apply for Siddaganga Institute of Technology 2023?

SIT Tumkur accepts students who have appeared for national or state-level tests for UG courses. Direct entry through quota is also available. Candidates from Karnataka can apply through KCET, and those outside Karnataka can apply through COMEDK. Candidates can apply by visiting the Karnataka Education Authority (KEA) website at kea.kar.nic.in.

• Go to the “Karnataka CET application” link on the home page.
• Click on the ‘New Registration/User’ icon and fill in your details like name, parents’ name, category, email ID, educational qualification, phone number, and other details for registration.
• Upload your scanned passport-size photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression, and your parent’s signature.
• Pay the category-wise registration fee using any payment option.
• Submit the KCET application form. You can also download or print it for future reference.

• You must have the following documents as a reference for the future:
  1. Printouts of the finally submitted online application
  2. Proof of the fee paid.
  3. 2-3 copies of photographs that are uploaded on the online application

Siddaganga Institute provides scholarships to students belonging to a financially weak section of society. Following are the scholarship programmes run by SIT Tumkur.

• Dr. M.N. Channabasappa Endowment Fund Loan Scholarship to financially needy SIT students
• Sri Sripathi K.A. Memorial Scholarship: to one student who has secured admission through CET.
• Dr. M.N. Channabasappa Endowment Fund Loan Scholarship: Four scholarships will be awarded out of the remaining 75% to a maximum of 50% of the total fee. This scholarship is given to only SIT students who are admitted through CET based on merit and are financially weak.
• Sri Sripathi K.A. Memorial Scholarship: The scholarship will be awarded to students who have demonstrated good academic standing and are from a financially weak background.

SIT Tumkur Placement

The placement drive at Siddaganga Institute of Technology is still in progress, and about 80% of the eligible students have been offered placement. The highest CTC recorded so far is INR 46.54 LPA by Twilio for students of information science and engineering. Companies like Amazon, Akamai, TCS, WIPRO, Mind Tree, L&T, Aricent, Ernst & Young, Oracle, Brahmos, and others took part in the drive.
