SVNIT Surat: Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Surat, popularly Known as SVNIT or NIT Surat, is a deemed university in Surat, Gujarat. The institute was established in 1961 as the Regional Engineering College (REC) and was renamed NIT in 2007.

The institute consists of 12 academic departments that provide courses to improve technical know-how through various disciplines at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. levels. NIRF has ranked the university 65th for engineering in 2023 and has AICTE approval.

The institute provides quality education for technological advancement through its flagship course, B.Tech. The institute accepts students for this course on the basis of the national-level exam JEE Mains. The highest package recorded in the campus placement of 2022 was INR 49.96 LPA.

The institute admits students to over 30 UG, PG, doctoral, and integrated courses in the disciplines of engineering, technology, and science. A student needs to qualify for entrance exams for respective courses to get admission to NIT. Admission through DASA for foreign students in B.Tech courses is available at SVNIT. Important Dates

Entrance Exam 

NIT Surat accepts entrance exams at the national level for admission in all courses. The list of entrance exams a student needs to qualify for SVNIT is as follows:

• B.Tech – JEE Mains + JOSAA Counseling.
• B.Sc + M.Sc – JEE Mains + JoSAA Counselling 
• M.Tech – GATE + COAP Counseling/JEE Main/JEE Advanced.
• Ph.D. – Written test/Interviews/NET/GATE.

Cut-off 

JoSAA declares the opening and closing ranks for NITs in different rounds on the basis of JEE Mains scores for B.Tech. and integrated M.Sc. COAP declares the result for M.Tech through GATE scores. SVNIT is one of the NITs and enjoys the status of an Institute of National Importance. The institute is moving towards becoming the leading institute in technical education at the national and International levels. NIRF has ranked NIT Surat in the 101–150 band in the overall category and 65th in engineering in 2023. The Indian Institutional Ranking Framework has ranked the institute 53rd out of 193 colleges in engineering in 2023. The institute has received NBA accreditation and recognition from UGC.

How to Apply for SVNIT Surat 2023 

A student needs to apply for NIT Surat through JoSAA counseling according to the scores of JEE Mains. The detailed method and steps to follow to apply for the B.Tech course are as follows:

• First, register for JEE Mains through the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
• Qualify JEE Mains and move on to the next step, JOSAA counseling for choice-filling.
• Now register for JoSAA counseling through the JEE Main application number and password.
• Check your information and fill in the additional details where necessary.
• Upload the JEE Mains scorecard and other required documents.
• Submit the JoSAA form and fill in the names of the colleges from the list available, along with the branch.
• JoSAA will declare ranks for NITs in different rounds of counseling.
• Seat allotment will take place after fee payment to freeze your seat at NIT Surat.
• The next round is document verification and you have to report to the institute and pay the balance fee.

Application Fees

A student has to make compulsory and non-refundable payments for registration in JEE Mains. The application fee is an online payment through credit card, debit card, net banking, Paytm, or UPI.

SVNIT Surat Scholarship 2023

The Institute accepts various national, state, PSU, and private-sponsored scholarships. These scholarships are financial aid for meritorious students hailing from economically weaker sections. These scholarships are a fee waiver, fee concession, or pocket allowance and are subject to the achievements, merits, conduct, etc. of a student. SVNIT Surat Placement  

The placement statistics of 2022 recorded the highest package of INR 49.96 LPA offered to M.Tech student of the VSLI engineering branch. The B.Tech. course recorded the second-highest package of INR 44 LPA to the CSE and ECE branch. Out of 1204 eligible students, 850 got placements. The average package for B.Tech, M.Tech and M.Sc stood at INR 10.05 LPA, INR 8.10 LPA, and INR 6.53 LPA, respectively. The average salary for the CSE and ECE branch of B.Tech. was INR 15.22 LPA and INR 12.86 LPA, respectively.

The VSLI branch of M.Tech. recorded the highest average salary at INR 18.52 LPA and a minimum salary of INR 5 LPA. 41% of students got placements in the Software/IT/Core engineering sector and 16% in Sales/Marketing, Oil the Petroleum utilities sector. The most prominent recruiters for 2022 were Amazon, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Deloitte, JP Morgan, Infosys, Texas Instruments, Federal Bank, TCS, etc.
