Kannada director and writer Girideva Raaj, who caught the attention of Bollywood filmmakers with his 2016 Kannada film Zero: Made In India, is set to make his directorial debut in Hindi with his upcoming film “The Y”.
Touted-to-be a psychological thriller, The Y is produced by Madhu GM and Dr. Ajith under the banner of Rockets Films. The film was widely appreciated by celebrities after its screening in Mumbai.
The Y Star Cast
The film marks the acting debut of the young and promising actress from Mangalore- Leonilla Shwetha D’Souza. She has previously appeared in a Hindi album titled “Ab Kuch Aisa”, directed by Chethak Kulal and sung by Joel Rebello. In the upcoming film, she plays the lead role as Deeksha Dee.
The Y will see actor Yuvan Hariharan in the male lead role as the husband of Deeksha. Other than the lead actors, the film also stars Kamal Ghimiray in a key role, and it will be his second collaboration with Girideva Raaj after “Zero: Made In India.” Abhinava Kiran and Prithal Uday Pawar are the other two actors in the film.
Release Date & Makers
The Y will be released in cinemas on 6 Jan 2023. It was recently issued a ‘UA’ certificate by the censor board with an approved runtime of 1hr 50min or 110mins.
The mystery thriller has a team of talented craftsmen, featuring Karthik Mallur as the cinematographer and Vinod Basavaraj as editor. The film’s original score and music are composed by Christopher Jayson and the Maru Brothers, respectively.
The Y Trailer
The trailer of the film is out on the official YouTube channel of Rajshri. It introduces Leonilla as Deeksha Dee, who turned mute after a horrific incident. She moved to a new house with her husband to begin a new chapter of her life after her marriage, but faced a situation both of them didn’t even think of.
In their new house, Deeksha experience paranormal incidents after they receive a new gift from an unknown source, following which their daily life turns out to be their biggest nightmare. How the duo becomes successful in cracking the mystery behind what happens to them after a spirit arrives in their house with that gift is the crux of the story.
