The 95th edition of the Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, is only a few months away from announcing the winners in various categories. The award is given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
The upcoming edition of the prestigious award event will honour films that were released in 2022, and it is scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatres in Los Angeles, California, on March 12, 2023.
The AMPAS recently announced the shortlists for 10 categories, including Documentary Feature Film, International Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, Makeup and hairstyle, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Films, Live Action Short Films, Sound, and Visual Effects.
India’s RRR and “Last Film Show” Shortlist for Oscars
It is moment of great pride for India as India’s two films, “RRR” and “Chhello Show” (“Last Film Show” in English), make it onto the shortlist for the 95th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film and the Original Song categories, respectively.
While Pan Nalin’s Gujarati film Chhellow Show was India’s official entry to the Oscars, S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR and Rishab Shetty’s blockbuster film Kantara were also sent for consideration at the 2023 Academy Awards.

Ram Charan and Jr. NTR starrer “RRR” had been submitted for various categories such as “Best Picture,” “Best Director,” “Best Visual Effects,” and others.
However, it was Pan Nalin’s Chhello show that left RRR behind to be shortlisted for the International Feature Film category, while the latter got a place in the Music (Original Song) category for the superhit song “Naatu Naatu.”

RRR still has a chance to make its place in other major categories like Best Picture and Best Director, etc. The final nominations for the 95th Academy Awards will be out on January 24, 2023.

A total of 15 movies from around the world have been shortlisted for the Best International Feature Film category. These are:

A total of 15 songs from around the world have earned their place in the Music (Original Song) category out of 81 songs recommended, and these are:
