1899 Netflix Series

Created by Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, 1899 is an upcoming German epic period mystery horror television series. Both Friese and Odar have earlier collaborated  in Sci-fi series “Dark” and techno-thriller film “Who Am I” and now are also serving as the producer of 1899 under the banner of Dark Ways.

The pre-production for the series officially commenced in November 2020 whereas the filming officially began in May 2021 outside Berlin, Germany. It also took place in London, United Kingdom and the entire filming for the series wrapped in November 2021.

1899 OTT Release Date

Earlier, the series was expected to premiere in 2021 but it faced delays and in early 2022, it was confirmed that the series is coming to Netflix in Autumn or Winter 2022. Now 1899 is all set to arrive on the platform sometime in November 2022 (17-11-2022).

The series will have a total of eight episodes out of which the title of the first episode is titled The Ship. All the episodes of this epic drama series will have running time of 60 minutes each. It will be a multilingual one, with the characters from all over the world speaking their native languages.

1899 Teaser

The makers of the series revealed its teaser in June 2022 and it follows a group of European migrants who are leaving London on a steamship to start new lives in the New York City of the United States. However, when they encounter another migrant ship adrift on the open sea, their  journey takes an unexpected turn. What they find on board will turn their passage to the promised land into a nightmare- like riddle, connecting each of the passenger’s past through a web of secrets.
