Tamil filmmaker A.R. Murugadoss is one of the most successful filmmakers of the industry. Over the years, the filmmaker has delivered multiple masterpieces and also won the Filmfare Award for the Best Director in 2014 for action drama film Kaththi.

He has also worked with megastar Thalapathy Vijay in political thriller Sarkar and Superstar Rajinikanth in action film Darbar. Now the filmmaker has joined the hand with Purple Bull Entertainments after directing Aamir Khan‘s 2008 action thriller film “Ghajini” and Akshay Kumar‘s 2014 film “Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty”. The period drama film is written as well as directed by N.S. Ponkumar who served as the associate director with Murugadoss for a long time. It is backed by the filmmaker’s A.R. Murugadoss Productions in association with Om Prakash Bhatt and Narsiram Choudhary. Aditya Joshi is the co-producer of the film.

On the technical front, Selvakumar is serving as the director of photography. The film has music by Sean Roldan. It stars Tollywood film industry’s young and talented actor Gautham Karthik in the lead role and he will be playing a young and carefree boy. The actor had previously worked in movies like Kadal, Yennamo Yedho, Devarattam. He was last seen in Ezhil directorial Yutha Satham, released on March 18, 2022.

Actress Revathy Sharma is playing Gautham’s love interest in this period drama film, she is making her acting debut in this film. Along with the leading stars, the film also features actor-comedian Pugazh in a crucial role.

About the Film

Set in 1947, during India’s independence from the Britishers, the film tells the story of a remote village in which the villagers fought the evil British forces. Also, it will show the events that happened the day before and the day after we got our independence.

The Gautham Karthik is set to release in cinemas on 7 April 2023 in Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

On May 25, 2022, the makers of the period drama film launched its first look that features lead actor Gautham Karthik leading a riot while a forest seems to be burning in the backdrop. As the title suggests, the events in the film occur a day after India’s independence in 1947.
