Malayalam cinema’s legendary superstar Mohanlal’s highly-anticipated spoof film Aaraattu had its grand release on Friday, 18th February 2022.
Directed by Malayalam film director B. Unnikrishnan, this most-awaited movie made the fans of Mohanlal go crazy on the first day of its release.
The screenplay of the film was written by Udaykrishna while it was bankrolled by RD Illuminations in association with Hippo Prime Motion Pictures and MPM Group.
On the technical front, the film has music by Rahul Raj, while cinematography and editing in the film are handled by Vijay Ulaganath and Shameer Muhammed.
The film received an overwhelming response from the audience as well as critics. The film was released on 2700 screens on Feb 18 in 52 countries.
In Kerala, the film opened in more than 450 theaters and collected a massive amount of Rs. 3 Crore. With this response, the film achieved the milestone of the third-highest post-Covid opening in Kerala.
The audience went crazy as Mohanlal’s full power performance created the buzz in theaters. The first half was appreciated more than the second half, followed by a decent ending.

Aaraattu OTT OTT Release and Production
Post theatrical OTT rights of the film are acquired by streaming giant Amazon Prime Video at a massive price. Now the OTT release date is reportedly 20 March.
The filming of this most-awaited movie commenced on November 23, 2020, and it took place in Palakkad district of Kerala. The entire shoot was wrapped up in March 2021.
The film is set in Palakkad district of Kerala and it depicts the story of Neyyattinkara Gopan, who came to the village to meet a broker to finalize the deal of property in that village.
The man who sold his property to Neyyattinkara, did it to avoid losing his plot, as per the new rules and regulations of Kerala state government, which stated that the empty and unused properties will turn out to be farming land.
How things change and end up creating more trouble for the lead character is what formed the crux of the film.
