‘Aayirathil Oruvan 2’ is an anticipated upcoming Tamil film of 2023 directed by Selvaraghavan, it is the sequel to his 2010 action adventure film Aayirathil Oruvan.
The first film garnered critical acclaim from both critics and audiences. It featured an ensemble cast of talented Tamil film actors such as Karthi, Reema Sen, Andrea Jeremiah, R. Parthiban, and others.
Now, Selvaraghan is set to spread magic with his exceptional direction again with the upcoming sequel, Aayirathil Oruvan 2, which will come on cinemas a decade after the first was released.

Actor Karthi, who was the main lead in the first installment will be reprising his role in Aayirathil Oruvan 2. Karthi’s two recent releases, Ponniyin Selvan: I and Sardar, turned out to be critical and commercial successes at the box office. In fact, the former PS: I went on to become the Highest Grossing Tamil Film.
The film is another collaboration between director Selvaraghavan and his brother, megastar Dhanush, who was also signed for the first installment but was replaced by R. Parthiban, who won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 58th Filmfare Awards South.
The brother duo’s latest collaboration is the Tamil horror thriller film Naane Varuvean, which received positive responses and became a box-office success.

Director Selvaraghavan unveiled the first look poster of Aayirathil Oruvan 2 on January 1, 2021. However, a few hours after the release of the poster, many fans pointed out that the poster was copied from the sketch created by French Art Director Mathieu Lauffray.

Selvaraghavan’s magnum opus is said to have a grand release in 2024. The official release date of the film is yet to be announced by its makers.
Update: As per a recent interview given by Selvaraghavan during the Bakasuran film festival in Chennai, the work in pre-production is going on for the 2nd part and soon an announcement will be made.
