The much-hyped Tollywood action flick graces the cinema halls on Friday, the film opened with mixed to negative reviews, and critics severely panned the film calling the story cliche and poorly narrated. Some even went on to say that the film is one of the worst films in Koratala’s career.
However, the day 1 box office collections of the film told another story, on day 1 the father-son starrer grossed a whopping Rs 40 Cr gross from the home market only, with Rs 7.90 Cr share from the Nizam area the film became the 11th highest film to do so from there.
Acharya is released on 2000 screens worldwide with most in Telugu-speaking states Andhra Pradesh and Telangana 1150 theatres.
Earlier the film was expected to hold similar growth till Sunday following the mass fan following of both the father-son duo as the advance bookings show amazing results on Saturday, especially in the home market where most of the evening shows were either sold out or in fast filling mode.
However, Chiranjeevi starrer seems to failed to attract the audience at the ticket windows as the spot bookings saw a dip, as per the reports Acharya saw a huge dip on the second day in contrast to its first day collections, it minted around only Rs 9 Cr gross from the home market.
