The verdict of almost a two month-long defamation trial between Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard has finally been delivered and its comes in favour of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor.

The actor sued Heard for USD 50 million in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia after she wrote an op-ed in American newspaper The Washington Post in 2018 in which she accused Depp of intimate partner violence and called herself a public figure representing domestic abuse without naming him.

Heard filed a counterclaim, against Depp, against Depp claiming that she was defamed when Depp’s attorney Adam Waldman called her abuse allegation a hoax. Finally the high-profile dramatic trial has reached its verdict and here are some points that are the highlights of Johnny Depp Vs. Amber Heard Trial:

Jury Found Both Reliable for Defamation

The Seven persons Civil Jury that includes five men and two woman, found both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard reliable for the defamation case, it ruled in favour of Depp in all three counts and awarded him significantly more damage, that is of USD 15 million which includes 10 million of compensatory damage and 5 million of punitive damages. The jury also found in favour of Heard in one of her three counts and awarded her USD 2 million.

Johnny Depp Welcomed the Verdict

Depp, who was not in the courtroom on Wednesday when the verdict was read out, as he is on his UK tour with pal Jeff Beck, welcomed the verdict of this defamation trial and said that from the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. He said that Jury gave him his life back. Also, the best is yet to come and a new chapter has finally begun.

Amber Heard said she is Disappointed

As the Jury ruled in favour of Johnny Depp, his wife Amber Heard in a statement that she posted on her social media account said that she is disappointed and heartbroken. She further called the verdict of the trial, a setback for other women.

Kate Moss Testifying

British model and ex-girlfriend of Johnny Depp, who dated him from 1994 to 1998, was called to testify after Heard while recounting her claims of violent behaviour of Depp, gave moss’s name following which Moss took the witness stand virtually via a video link, where she testified in support of Johnny Depp and said that he was never violent with her.

Bizarre accusations against each other

Both Depp and Heard made some shocking and bizarre accusations against each other during the trial. For example, Depp claimed that Heard had left Amber pooped in their bed. However, Amber called this allegation ‘disgusting’ and it was their dog who was responsible.

On the other hand, Amber testified that Depp was an alcoholic and had a drug problem. She also claim that her ex-husband sexually assaulted her with a liquor bottle in an alcohol-fuelled rage. However, Johnny said it was Amber who flew into rage and severed his finger with a Vodka bottle.
