Ayushmann’s latest flick had seen the lowest opening after the year 2017, his film Meri Pyari Bindu had raked in Rs 1.75 Cr on the first day and declared a flop at the box office.
The actor’s second-lowest in 2017 was Bareilly Ki Barfi which saw the opening of Rs 2.42 Cr, and with a lifetime collection of Rs 34.55 Cr, the film was considered an average.
Now, if Anek was released in pre-covid times, it would collect opening figures ranging in Rs 7-9 crores for sure considering the base was set by Article 15.
It is post-covid time and the people have become selective so as to which film to watch or not, considering the box office collections of Runway 34, Jersey, etc. Which got amazing reviews from the critics but failed to charm the cinephiles.
On day 1 it was opened with a very low opening of Rs 2.1 crores and further saw a slight jump on Saturday churning out Rs 2.3 crores approx taking the total collections to Rs 4.4 crores at the domestic box office.
Now as per the reports, the film witnessed a drop in its collection on Sunday, it accumulated only Rs 2 crore. The film was expected to see a jump on Sunday and trade pundits had estimated the Sunday collections around Rs 3.2 Cr** on Day 3.
The reason behind this is being said IPL final which has hugely impacted the Day 3 collection of Ayushmann starrer, as it was performing on par with its Monday collection till 7 pm but post it, the film sees a decrease in the footfalls.
Ayushmann’s last outing Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui collected the lifetime bizz of Rs 28.26 crore, which was released amid the pandemic. Now it is to be seen whether Anek crosses the biz of CKA or not. It will become more clear after the Monday collections.
