Bollywood’s one of the most versatile actors Ayushmann Khurrana starrer spy thriller drama film Anek has been making headlines since it was announced, as it will show the actor in a never-seen-before role of a spy (undercover agent).
Ayushmann in the past has given many superhit films like Bareilly ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Badhaai Ho, Dala, and others. And almost all of them were of romance, comedy or rom-com genre except Article 15, which was a crime thriller. With Anek the actor is trying his hand in the action genre and he looks absolutely fit to portray the role.
Written and directed by Bollywood’s ace Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, who is known for delivering bold and unique films like Mulk, Article 15 and Thappad has written as well as directed the film, which will tell the story of the most sensitive and controversial subject and that is the North East India.
The trailer of the film was release on May 5, 2022 and has been creating a buzz since then as people are praising the trailer. It shows how the separatist forces have become stronger in that part of India and how negligence of the all the governments over the years towards solving the issues of the North Eastern States of India, has given this separatist movement a further boost.
Anek also stars Andrea Kevichusa, who is a successful model from Nagaland. Andrew is making her acting debut with the film. J.D. Chakravarthy, Deeplina Deka, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra and Loitongbam Dorendra are also the key actors in the film.
Anek Advance Booking Started
Anek is all set to be released theatrically on May 27, 2022 and a full-fledged advance booking of this highly-anticipated spy thriller drama has been started from 21st May 2022 a few days before its release. It is said that the film will stream on Netflix after a few weeks of its theatre release.
As of Tuesday evening, Anek had sold the tickets worth Rs 48 Lakhs, though we will have to wait for Wed and Thursday collections as the film will be released on May 27th (Friday).
Anek Screen Counts
It is being said that the film is made with a huge budget of Rs. 80-90 crore, which is not a clear estimate as the makers haven’t revealed much about that. However, if the claims are true, the movie should be allotted around 2000 screens+.
It could be even more than what we have predicted but as we know, Kartik Aryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 has also been released and the movie has been allotted 3200 screens in India and 629 in overseas. Also, Kartik starrer is raking sky-high collections at the box office currently. So we can expect BB2 to be allotted more screens in the upcoming days that could affect the screen allotted to Anek.
Anek Box Office Predictions
As we know, Bollywood has not given a major hit post- Covid times, (Vikram Ranjan Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files is an exception, off Course), and the big banner movies like Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Runway 34 have turned-out-to be flops at Box-office, movies like Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 and Anek are expected to end the long awaited draught.
Meanwhile, BB2, that was released on May 20, 2o22, its doing absolutely phenomenal at Box-office and has collected Rs.14.11 on the opening day. The same way, expectation are very high from Anek as well.
Though the movie will not face a direct clash with any other movie on the days of its release. BB2 can surprise the film as its is doing exceptionally well.
But, the subject of the movie and the popularity of Ayushmann Khurrana will push the audience to the theatre anyway. Going by the early reports, the film could collect Rs 5 Cr+ on Day 1 as there is not much buzz amid the cinephiles. Further, given on what subject the film has been made, if the positive word of mouth spreads like wildfire, it could later emerge as a hit film.
