Directed and written by debutante R. Kaiser Anand, the crime drama thriller Anel Meley Pani Thuli has been released on Sony LIV and is receiving an amazing response from both audiences and critics.
The title of the movie is taken from a song of Gautham Vasudev Menon’s, “Vaaranam Aayiram.” The English translation of the poetic title is “A Dewdrop Over Fire.” The film produced by ace Kollywood filmmaker Vetrimaaran was released on November 18, 2022.
Star Cast
The female-centric film stars actor-playback singer Andrea Jeremiah in the lead as Mathi. She has appeared in many successful films like Annayum Rasoolum, Vishwaroopam, Tadakha, Endrendrum Punnagai, Aranmanai, Loham, etc.
It stars actor Aadhav Kannadasan, known for his roles in Ponmaalai Pozhudhu, Yaamirukka Bayamey, Namo, Bhootatma, and Kaalidas, in the male lead role. Apart from them, the film’s cast also includes Azhagam Perumal, Ilavarasu, Anupama Kumar, and Lovelyn Chandrasekhar.
Plot of the Film
The plot of the series revolves around a small-town girl from Tamil Nadu named Madhi, who was leading a happy life until her world turned upside down one night, when she found herself half-naked in the middle of a forest engulfed in darkness.
She soon realised that she had been sexually assaulted and felt scared, wounded, confused, and helpless. However, despite what had happened to her, she decided to take a stand and seek justice for herself.
The core theme of the film is honor. As mostly seen, rape survivors are shunned in society for losing the same. The film shows that honour is indeed important, but it wisely defines what honour is and shows that it is not just limited to one’s body.
