National film awardee actor Rajkummar Rao starrer Badhaai Do releases in cinemas on 11 Feb (Friday). Helmed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni, it revolves around a lavender marriage of a couple for the purpose of hiding their homosexualities.
Badhaai Do started off with a dull opening day, many biz analysts had estimated the opening figures around Rs 1.2 to 1.4 crores keeping night curfews in mind. And the film minted the expected amount of Rs 1.65 crores on Friday but reviews are positive so the weekend total is strong.

After 1st Monday, it faces expected downfall (Rs 1.12 Cr) and a total of 5 days is Rs 10.79 Cr., the film will not face clash this weekend, another chance to make good number but next weekend is for big films like Gangubai, Valimai, and Ghani.

The Day 2 Box office Collections of the film shows that positive word of mouth converts into the Box Office Number considering it’s a weekend (Saturday), So, the film witnesses more footfalls at the theatres compared to the opening day, but not many.

Comparison to earlier films
Despite the film getting rave reviews from the critics, Rao starrer failed to pull the audience at the ticket windows. Badhaai Do lags far behind in contrast to Rao’s 2021 horror comedy film Roohi which had minted Rs 3.06 crores on an opening day.
It also legs behind from the Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui which dealt with the same LGBT subject, CKA did the business of Rs 3.75 crore on Day 1.
Though we can say that the situations are far different compared to earlier films, the subject that makers have chosen, also doesn’t have demand among the masses, we have seen it with CKA collections which resulted in massive flop at the BO.
