Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan is gearing up for his horror-comedy “Bhediya.” The film will be out in cinemas on Nov 25 in three languages, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
It has created a good buzz among the cinephiles through its trailer which is enriched with visuals. It marks the 3rd film in Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe after Stree (2018) and Roohi (2021).
The industry which was suffering from BO drought after Brahmastra breathed a sigh of relief after the arrival of Drishyam 2 which is doing very well at the box office. Industry experts are hoping Varun starrer to continue the trend. His last film Jug Jugg Jeeyo which was released amid the pandemic had done decent business.

Bhediya Advance Bookings
Varun starrer has been certified with a UA certificate by the censor board with an approved runtime of 2hr 36min or 156 mins. The advance bookings for the movie have been opened on Nov 19, Sat, one week ahead of the release.
The advance bookings have now been opened full-fledged, however, the early response in the pre-sales is not good so far. As of Nov 24 morning, it has clocked in 1.1Cr for day 1 from the advance bookings in Hindi and Telugu in both formats 2D and 3D. It sold over 37K overall tickets for the opening day.
With around 12hrs more left, it is expected to clock in 2.5-3 Cr from the advance bookings for the opening day.
Bhediya Screen Counts and Budget
It is said to be made with a budget of 60 crores. It is expected to occupy around 2500-3000 screens in the domestic market. As per the reports, Varun’s film will be released in over 260+ theatres in the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana). It is titled Thodelu in Telugu.
Varun’s last film Jug Jugg Jeeyo released in around 3300+ screens and opened with over 9 crores at the box office followed by a decent 37 crore approx weekend.
Box Office Collection
Given the good pre-release buzz, it looks like Varun’s film could open with 8-9 crore nett at the box office. The bad news for the Varun starrer is, it will have to compete with Ajay Devgn’s “Drishyam 2” which is doing very well at the box office.
However, if the content is good then Bhediya will eventually draw footfall towards the cinema halls as 2022 has been the year of WOM movies like Kantara, Sita Ramam, The Kashmir Files and 777 Charlie.
