Amid the ongoing boycott Brahmastra calls, the film’s stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who were on their visit to Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple ahead of its release, along with director Ayan Mukerji, were stopped by the protestors from entering the temple on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 evening.
As they were about to reach the temple, the protests erupted and the crowd gathered outside the temple stopped them from entering amid the protests and black flags waving outside due to Ranbir’s past comment of beef.
The star duo, after promoting their film in Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad, had taken flight to Ujjain hoping to visit the temple but the whole incident made them to return to the airport without doing the holy darshan while director Ayan Mukerji and the rest of the team of Brahmastra, went to the temple for darshan. Mukerji also shared the pictures of him seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva on Instagram.

About Ranbir’s Old “Beef” Comment
The current incident that took place in Ujjain was the result of Ranbir’s old video which is going viral on social media. In the video the “Rockstar ” can be seen talking about his love for red meat, especially beef.
The video is of 2011 when Ranbir, while promoting his film Rockstar said he is a “big beef guy”. In the video he can be heard saying that his family is from Peshawar, so a lot of Peshawari food has come with them. He said “I am a mutton, paya and beef fan”, yeah, I am a big beef guy.
This video has surfaced ahead the released of Brahmastra and the hashtag #boycottBrahmastra is continuously trending on twitter.

Police Lathicharge on Protesters
The protest outside the temple got so bad that the police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the crowd. A video of police badly beating a protestor was shared by journalist and, founder and CEO of “Jan Ki Baat”. In the caption he stated that if Ranbir have a right to proudly express his fondness for beef, then the protestors also have the right to protest.
You proudly claim to be fond of beef and expect the majority who worship cow to be your audience. If you have the right to express they have right to protest. Hindus protesting in Ujjain are not criminals that they should have been lathi charged! #Bramhastra pic.twitter.com/j6mZjJNq4k

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra on Wednesday said that nobody stopped the star duo from the darshan. Like Ayan Mukerji visited the temple, Ranbir and Alia were also requested to but they decided not to go amid the protest. Also, he said that an artist should not use words which hurt the sentiments of people.

Another verified twitter handle named Vikas Ahir tweeted in support of protestors:
आखिरकार भारी विरोध के बाद रणवीर आलिया को महाकाल दर्शन किये बिना ही लौटना पड़ा।
बीफ वाले बयान को लेकर हिंदू संगठनों का विरोध रणबीर कपूर खुद बता चुके हैं कि वे बीफ खाते हैं। ऐसे में बीफ खाने वालों को मंदिर में कैसे प्रवेश दिया जा रहा है। जय बाबा महाकाल 🚩#boycottbharmastra pic.twitter.com/Y1muxRCq8c
