The 75th Cannes festival or Cannes 2022, takes place on May 17th, and as always the annual film festival made the headlines right from day one. Many known celebrities around the world graced the red carpet in their designer clothes.
For the unversed, the Cannes film festival is held every year and previews the upcoming films and documentaries around the world. Cannes 2022 will see the tribute to the Hollywood action star Tom Cruise as his film Top Gun: Maverick will have a premiere at the festival. The official poster of Cannes 2022 is designed to pay homage to the popular actor Jim Carrey’s 1998 sci-fi film The Truman Show.
That said, the film festival has also celebrities from Bollywood representing India, on the first day Deepika Padukone walked on the Red Carpet, the actress was seen wearing Sabyasachi-designed black and gold saree.
Let us inform you that Deepika is one of the main Jury members who are to select the movies for the highest prize of Cannes, Palme d’Or. India also became the first ‘Country of Honour’ at Marche Du Films, Cannes business counterpart, held alongside the film festival in France, Union Minister Anurag Thakur unveiled the news. The latter was also present there.

Along with Deepika and Anurag Thakur, Indian celebrities that graced the Red Carpet are R. Madhavan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Central Board member Prasoon Joshi, and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was also present there to represent India.
Reportedly, Madhavan’s film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is heading towards the world premiere at Cannes 2022, along with it, the Hindi language documentary film All That Breathes is selected for the special screenings directed by Shaunak Sen. Two more regional films are also selected for the screening at the festivals, they are 1970 Bengali film Pratidwandi directed by Satyajit Ray and Malayali 1978 film Thampu.
There are over 20 movies selected to compete for the highest prize Palme d’Or, Deepika is one of the main jury members.
