Acclaimed Malayalam mystery thriller film series CBI film series is all set to deliver its fifth most awaited installment titled CBI5: The Brain. The series is directed by K. Madhu and is written by S.N. Swami, it was started in 1988 with “Oru CBI Diary Kurippu”.
The upcoming installment of this film series is produced by Swargachithra Appachan under the banner of his Swargachithra Films. If we talk about technical work, the cinematography in the film is handled by Akhil George and it is edited by A. Sreekar Prasad.
The music and background score of the film is composed by Jakes Bejoy, who is collaborating with superstar Mammootty for the first time. The audio rights of the film has been brought by Saina and for the main theme of the film, he recreated the original theme from the first installment composed by Shyam.
CBI5: The Brain Star Cast
The film stars megastar Mammootty who is reprising his role as Sethurama Iyer, a Central bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer in the title role. His character Iyer’s popularity is attributed to the fact that he uses his brain rather than physical strength, to solve the cases and this character is inspired by a Police officer named Radha Vinod Raju, who was appointed as the first chief of India’s National Investigation Agency in 2009.
Mammootty is one of the most promising actor of Malayalam Cinema, in a career spanning of more than 50 years, he has acted over 400 films, mainly in Malayalam with several in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English.
His recently released Bheeshma Parvam, which was released theatrically on March 3, 2022, opened to highly positive response and broke many box office records for a Malayalam film. In just one month of its release, it grossed over Rs. 100 Crore. The megastar has many project lined-up for 2022-23 including Puzhu, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, Bilal and an untitled Nissam Basheer movie.
Along with Mammootty, the film features Mukesh as Chacko, a CBI officer, Jagathy Sreekumar as CBI officer Vikram, Saikumar as DySP Sathyadas. Also, it features Anoop Menon, Asha Sharath, Kaniha, Ansiba Hassan, Malavika Menon, Malavika Nair and others in supporting roles.
CBI5: The Brain Release Date
On Monday, April 18, 2022, the makers of the movie announced its official release date, and was confirmed that the film will have its grand worldwide release on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
After one month of theatrical release, CBI5: The Brain has been released on Digital platform, available on Netflix in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu.

CBI5: The Brain Teaser
The makers release the official teaser of this most epic investigation thriller on April 6, 2022 and since then it has been trending on social media. The 1.5 minute long trailer gives us the hint that the film will follow the case of the deaths of elite family of Indian politics- Gandhi Family and it will investigate the deaths of Former PM Indira Gandhi and her sons- Rajiv Gandhi, also the former PM and Sanjay Gandhi.
The teaser looks so promising and the fans just can’t wait to enjoy this crime investigation thriller on big screens. It will explore some interesting facts and more intense drama that will keep you stick to your seats.
