The heartthrob of Malayalam cinema Dulquer Salmaan returns to Hindi films with Chup: Revenge of the Artist, a psychological thriller, the film marks the return of the superstar in Hindi films after The Zoya Factor (2019).
His debut Hindi film was road comedy drama film Karwaan (2018) in which he played the lead role alongside Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar. Chup is the third Hindi film of DQ’s career, recently impressed the Hindi Audiences with love drama Sita Ramam.
Chup: Revenge of the Artist Star Cast
Along with Dulquer Salmaan, Chup also stars “Gadar” fame Sunny Deol and marks his nice comeback. He was last seen in 2019 action thriller film Blank.
The film also roped in Shreya Dhanwanthary, best known for playing Journalist Sucheta Dalal in Sony LIV’s sleeper hit financial thriller series Scam 1992 has a critical role to play in the film.
Chup Release Date & OTT
Chup: Revenge of the Artist released on 23rd of Sep 2022, opened with Rs 3.00 Cr of opening and had decent first weekend. The 37-second long teaser is a perfect tribute to the legend and it shows the first glimpse of Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol and Shreya Dhanwanthary from the film.
The teaser shows DQ singing Happy Birthday while making a bouquet of flowers out of a newspaper. We can also hear the iconic song “Waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam” from Guru Dutt’s 1959 film Kaagaz Ke Phool, playing in the background.
It directly refers to the criticism Guru Dutt faced for his masterpiece film Kaagaz Ke Phool at the time of its release, but turned out to be a world cinema cult classic in the 1980s.
It also features Shreya Dhanwanthary and Sunny Deol in his popular angry young man avatar. Interestingly, Pooja Bhatt, who is believed to play the critical role in the film, was not seen in the teaser. Probably, we will see her in the film’s trailer.
The post theatrical rights are bagged by Zee5, releasing here on 25th of Nov, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada.

About the film
Chup is directed by popular filmmaker R. Balki who is best known for directing Cheeni Kum, Paa and Pad Man. The film marks the debut of the director in this genre.
Apart from directing the film, he also wrote its story as well as co-wrote the original screenplay and dialogues of the film with critic-turned-writer Raja Sen and Rishi Virmani.
Balki along with his wife Gauri Shinde is also producing the film under their banner Hope Productions. Pranab Kapadia and Anirudh Sharma are serving as the co-producer in the film.
On the technical front, Vishal Sinha is cranking the camera, Nayan HK Bhadra has handled the editing work and ace musician Amit Trivedi is composing the music and background score of the film.
