Desi girl Priyanka Chopra is soon going to mark her digital debut with the highly anticipated upcoming spy thriller web series “Citadel” produced by Russo Brothers (Extraction, The Gray Man). However, the actress has already made it big with her successful Tv series Quantico.
The series is currently in its post-production phase and will consist of 7 episodes and will debut on Amazon Prime Video.
Most Expensive Web Series?
Most recently, it made the headlines as it suffered cost overruns and reshoots which may finally make it one of the most expensive shows. As per Hollywood Reporter, the creative differences between the Russo Brothers and Appelbaum-Nemec led to the exit of half of the creative team and forced the show into a round of expensive reshoots.
Now, it is being said that the reshoots could cost the show to be the second most expensive after “Lord of Rings: The Rings of Power” which is made over a production budget of $465 million (Rs 3709 crores approx). However, it is remained to be seen whether the budget of Citadel overtakes Netflix’s Stranger Things Season 4 of $270 million (Rs 2153 crores).
As per the reports, Citadel is currently being estimated to be made with a $250 million (Rs 1994 crores) budget.
The spy thriller show also aims to have spin-offs in the future and is planned as the mothership show under which several local spinoffs will exist including India, Mexico, and Italy. The Indian version will be directed by Raj & DK (The Family Man) and it is rumored that Varun Dhawan and Samantha will star in the series.
