Directed by actor Michael B. Jordon in his feature directorial debut, Creed 3 is an American sports drama film. It is the sequel of Creed 2 and the ninth installment in the Rocky franchise.
Ryan Coogler and Zach Baylin are serving as showrunner and both of them also co-wrote the story with Ryan Coogler. The shooting of the film began in late January 2022 with Jordon being spotted on the film’s set in Atlanta, Georgia.
Creed III Star Cast
- The film brings back the “Black Panther” star, Michale B. Jordon back in his role as Adonis “Donnie” Creed, an underdog but talented light heavyweight boxer, in his feature directorial debut film.
- Tessa Thompson is reprising his role as Bianca Taylor, a singer-songwriter with a hearing impairment and Donnie’s love interest.
- Phylicia Rashad is back as Mary Anne Creed, Donnie’s stepmother
- Wood Harris is reprising as Tony “Little Duke” Evers
- Florian Munteanu as Viktor Drago
- Jonathan Majors as Anderson Dame
Apart from these actors, Selenis Levy, Thaddeus J. Mixson, Spence Moore II, Mila Davis- Kent, and Canelo Alvarez have also been cast in undisclosed roles. It will be the first film of the franchise without Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa, though he still serves as a producer for his banner Balboa Productions.
Creed III Release Date
Michael B. Jordon on Monday, October 17, 2022, announced the release date along with dropping first-look posters featuring him seated in the boxing ring whereas the other pictures feature Jonathan Majors, who is playing villain Anderson Dame.
The film which was initially set to be released in November 2022, arrived on March 3rd, 2023.
Creed III Box Office
Creed 3 has become the most successful in the Creed trilogy. The film has grossed $224.3M globally overtaking Creed ($173.5M) and Creed 2 ($213.5M).
The film is doing very well in the international market which contributed $96.6M. However, the India collections of the movie are below par, it accumulated just 1.75 Cr in its one-week run, here.
About the Film
Creed featured Adonis being trained and mentored by Rocky Bilbao whereas Creed II showed him winning a fight with Viktor Drago, ending a long-standing rivalry with Viktor’s father, Ivan Drago, who killed Adonis’s father Apollo Creed in Rocky IV.
The upcoming installment is expected to focus on Adonis attempting to become a better father to his daughter and preparing to take to a new rival Damien Anderson in the ring.
