Her family relocated to Shimla following the partition. In the 1950s, Kalpana Kartik appeared in six Hindi films as an actress. Kalpana and Dev Anand got married secretly in 1954 during a break in the movie “Taxi Driver.”
Nau Do Gyarah was Kalpana’s last film as an actor. Later, she worked as an associate producer for films like Tere Ghar Ke Samne (1963), Jewel Thief (1967), Prem Pujari (1970), Shareef Budmaash (1973), Heera Panna (1973), and Jaaneman (1976). In these films, Dev Anand portrayed the main character.
