Tamil thriller film “Diary” has been released in cinemas, it stars Arulnithi Tamilarasu and Pavithra Marimuthu in the main lead roles. It is directed and written by Innasi Pandiyan and produced by S. Kathiresan.
It looks like Arulnithi’s third outing this year has opened with flying colors as the early reports are all positive for his thriller. The film is being praised for performances, direction, BGM, engaging story, and climax.
Tamil Nadu Screen Counts
Despite Dhanush’s Thiruchitrambalam minting big moolah in the state, Diary managed to occupy 267+ screens. Arulnithi is playing a cop role in this gripping investigation thriller while Pavithra as a doctor, it marks the directorial debut of Pandiyan.

Box Office Collection Day 1
Now going by the reports, it takes a good start in the home market (Tamil Nadu) considering the positive reviews and the buzz its trailer has created ahead of the release. As per the trade estimation, it collects Rs 0.50 crores nett at the box office. It is a small film and said to be made on a meager budget of 5-8 crores, if the film gains momentum over the weekend, it will easily do the box office recovery within a week.
As per sacnilk.com, Diary had an overall 18.78% Tamil occupancy during morning, noon, evening and night shows.
The positive reviews and the good number of screen counts have set the stage for Arulnithi starrer, the film now needs to translate this into impressive box office numbers. If the film gets a good audience word of mouth then it will see a growth in collections in the coming days, as Diary is a type of film which can grow only due to word of mouth.
