Last year we see Akshay facing competition with Marvel’s Eternals and superstar Rajinikanth during Diwali, and this year too, there is a mega box office clash on the cards. Akki’s Ram Setu will be facing a clash with Siddharth Malhotra’s Thank God, which also has Ajay Devgn in the pivotal role.
It will be interesting to see who emerges as a winner in this box office battle. However, not only in Hindi but there will be raining clashes across the industries this Diwali.
Having said that, Annatthee, Eternals and Sooryavanshi reaped huge profits for their buyers last year and we expect the same this year as well. Take a look at those movies which are going to release during or around Diwali this year.

1- Ram Setu
Akshay Kumar’s epic saga Ram Setu will be out in theatres on 25 Oct coinciding with Diwali, it is directed by Abhishek Sharma and produced by Aruna Bhatia with Vikram Malhotra. It also has Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Satyadev Kancharana as the main leads. The year has not gone well for Khiladi Kumar in terms of BO success, all his flicks bombed at the box office this year, and all eyes will now be on Ram Setu.
2- Thank God
Ajay Devgn-Siddharth Malhotra starrer Thank God will be competing with Akki’s Ram Setu this Diwali. It is directed by Indra Kumar and produced by T-Series. Ajay Devgn is playing Chitragupta, while Sidharth Malhotra will be portraying the character Ayaan Kapoor.
Rakul Preet Singh is the lead actress in the movie, As the fantasy comedy is gearing up for release, it has landed in controversy for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The boycott trend has directly affected the box office numbers of the respective films this year, it remains to be seen whether it affects the earnings of Thank God or not.
3- Gandhada Gudi
Late actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s final film Gandhada Gudi will be released a day ahead of his first death anniversary on Oct 28, as per the reports. It is directed by Amoghavarsha JS and produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar under PRK Productions. On the technical front, it includes Prateek Shetty handled the cinematography and B. Ajaneesh Loknath gave the music.
4- Padavettu
Nivin Pauly’s much-awaited film Padavettu is written and directed by Liju Krishna and will be dropped in theatres on Oct 21. It boasts of an ensemble cast of Aditi Balan, Shammi Thilakan, Shine Tom Chacko and Indrans. Backed by Vikram Mehra, Siddharth Anand Kumar and Sunny Wayne and co-produced by Sahil Sharma.
5- Black Adam
Dwayne Johnson starrer Black Adam will be released in India in all four languages Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu. It is the 11th installment in the DC extended universe and a spin-off from the 2019 film Shazam! Black Adam will be out in cinemas one day earlier on 20 October 2022. It will be released domestically (U.S) on Oct 21st.
6- Prince
Tamil star Shivakarthikeyan starrer Prince recently got its release date locked. It will be out in cinemas on Oct 21st in Tamil and Telugu. Sivakarthikeyan will be seen romancing Ukrainian beauty Maria Ryboshapka. It is directed by Anudeep (Jathi Rathnalu), while it has the music scored by Thaman. Songs from the movie are already hit, and soon the trailer will be unveiled.
7- Monster
Mohanlal starrer much-hyped Monster is said to be released on 21 October 2022. It is directed and Vysakh and written by Uday Krishna. Along with Mohanlal, it also has Honey Rose, Johny Antony, and Sudev Nair among others.
8- Sardar
Tamil star Karthi was recently seen in the blockbuster Ponniyin Selvan, the actor will again be seen on the big screens with his highly anticipated, much-awaited spy thriller “Sardar”. It will be released on Oct 21. The trailer of the movie was recently unveiled and it garnered a lot of eyeballs.
9- Ori Devuda
The telugu release “Ori Devuda” feautres Venkatesh Daggubati, Vishwak Sen, Mithila Palkar and Asha Bhat. It is a remake of 2020 hit Tamil film Oh My Kadavule which starred Vijay Sethupathi, Ashok Selvan and Ritika Singh. Telugu star Venkatesh Daggubati will be stepping into the shoes of Sethupathi in the remake, he
will be playing a God role. Out in theatres on Oct 21.
10- Har Har Mahadev
Following the success of the recent Marathi releases like Sher Shivaraj and Pawankhind. Marathi cinema is now all set to deliver a multilingual Marathi film Har Har Mahadev. It features Sharad Kelkar in the lead role. He will be playing the character of Bajiprabhu Deshpande who led 300 soldiers against the 12000 enemy army and won. It will be out in the theatres on Oct 25th in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.
11- Kantara-Malayalam
As we know how the Kannada sensation Kantara has wreaked havoc at the box office. The genuine audience word of mouth has taken its box office numbers to new heights. It hit the century in over 2 weeks run in the domestic mark. So far it has been released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada and doing very well there. It is now all set to release in the Malayalam version on Oct 20th.
12- Ginna
The Pan-Indian Telugu movie Ginna will be released on 21 October 2022. The trailer of the movie was recently unveiled and it is getting huge traction among the cinephiles. The flick will be out in Telugu and the dubbed versions in Hindi, Malayalam, and Tamil, this Diwali. It features Vishnu Manchu, Sunny Leone and Paayal Rajput in key roles.
This year content oriented films performed very well across the board even in their dubbed versions, for instance, Karthikeya 2, Rocketry, 777-Charlie, KGF2, RRR, Sita Ramam and Kantara.
