Last year we see Akshay facing competition with Marvel’s Eternals and superstar Rajinikanth during Diwali, and this year too, there is a mega box office clash on cards. Akki’s Ram Setu will be facing a clash with Siddharth Malhotra’s Thank God, which also has Ajay Devgn in the pivotal role.
It will be interesting to see who emerges as a winner in this box office battle. However, not only in Hindi but there will be raining clashes across the industries this Diwali.
Having said that, Annatthee, Eternals and Sooryavanshi reaped huge profits for their buyers last year and we expect the same this year as well. Take a look at those movies which are going to release during or around Diwali this year.
1- Ram Setu
Akshay Kumar’s epic saga Ram Setu will be out in theatres on 25 Oct coinciding with Diwali, it is directed by Abhishek Sharma and produced by Aruna Bhatia with Vikram Malhotra. It also has Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Satyadev Kancharana as the main leads. The year has not gone well for Khiladi Kumar in terms of BO successe, all his flicks bombed at the box office this year, and all eyes will now be on Ram Setu.
2- Thank God
Ajay Devgn-Siddharth Malhotra starrer Thank God will be competing with Akki’s Ram Setu this Diwali. It is directed by Indra Kumar and produced by T-Series. Ajay Devgn is playing a Chitragupta, while Sidharth Malhotra will be portraying the character Ayaan Kapoor.
Rakul Preet Singh is a lead actress in the movie, As the fantasy comedy is gearing for release, it has landed in controversy for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The boycott trend has directly affected the box office numbers of the respective film this year, it remains to be seen how will it affects the earnings of Thank God or not.
3- Gandhada Gudi
Late actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s final film Gandhada Gudi will be released a day ahead of his first death anniversary on Oct 28, as per the reports. It is directed by Amoghavarsha JS and produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar under PRK Productions. On the technical front, it includes Prateek Shetty handled the cinematography and B. Ajaneesh Loknath gave the music.
Nivin Pauly’s much awaited film Padavettu is written and directed by Liju Krishna and will be dropped in theatres on Oct 21. It boasts of ensemble cast of Aditi Balan, Shammi Thilakan, Shine Tom Chacko and Indrans.Backed by Vikram Mehra, Siddharth Anand Kumar and Sunny Wayne and co produced by Sahil Sharma.
