Mohit Suri’s 2014 film “Ek Villain” was expected to take a single-digit opening at the box office but to everyone’s surprise including trade experts, it minted a whopping Rs 16.72 Crs on the first day.
Now, the same is being expected from its sequel “Ek Villain Returns”, it is much higher in scale as compared to its predecessor. It features John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Tara Sutaria, and Disha Patani in the main leads. Riteish Deshmukh is said to have a powerful extended cameo in the movie.
Screen Counts & Budget
“Ek Villain Returns” has been released in cinemas on around 3000 screens, domestically, as per Pinkvilla. It was recently passed with a U/A certificate by the censor board with approved runtime of 2hrs 8mins. It is a moderate budget film said to be made on Rs 70-80 Crs.

Box Office Collection Day 1
The film managed to occupy good screen counts and considering it is a sequel to a super hit, it will go well in the film’s favor. Also makers this time have gone higher in size and scale, and the introduction of seduction to cater to the masses.
The projection becomes difficult, especially after Shamshera, it is difficult to read the audience’s mood. Morning occupancy had indicated around Rs 6 Cr opening however, the masses coming on board from noon took the trade estimations around Rs 7 Cr. John starrer had a better occupancy than Shamshera on Friday, in book my show.
As per Bollywood Hungama’s Taran Adarsh, EK Villain Returns collects Rs 7.05 Cr on Fri.

Advance Bookings
The advance bookings were opened on Wednesday and till Thursday noon, it had sold around 10,000 tickets. The film mainly caters to the single-screen audience, so a lot will depend on walk-in audiences and spot bookings. As per Sacnilk. com, it collected Rs 2.85 Cr through ticket sales. The ticket prices have been kept under control, it is in the same price range as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
