It seems Disney+ has decided to make YA adaptation its priority as it has many novels to be adapted as the TV series for this year and next year. Meanwhile it is being reported that it will soon come up with a live action TV series titled Eragon, which is in the making.
Eragon TV series based on author-screenwriter Christopher Paolini’s young adult high fantasy novel series The Inheritance Cycle’s first novel of the same name.
It was the third best-selling children’s hardback book of 2003, and the second best-selling paperback of 2005. It was placed on the New York Times Children’s Best. Seller list for 121 weeks.
Not only that, before being adapted by Disney, for the upcoming TV series, the book was also adapted as the feature film of the same name which was released in December 2006 and starred Ed Speelers in the titular role.
Eragon Cast & Crew
As per media reports, Paolini will serve as the co-writer of the series while Bart Salke will executive produce it under his banner Co-Lab 21 with 20th Television producing. The star cast of the series is yet to be decided.
About the Series
The series revolves around a farm boy named Eragon, who finds a mysterious stone in the mountains. The stone is revealed to be a dragon egg that hatches into a dragon he names Saphira.
When the evil king Galbatorix finds out about the egg, he sends monstrous servants to acquire it, making Eragon and Saphira flee from their hometown with a storyteller named Boom, an old member of an extinct group called the Dragon Riders, teacher Eragon about The Way of the Rider.
Eragon OTT Release Date
The series is expected to premiere on Disney Plus in 2023, as per some sources. However, the makers haven’t revealed anything about it. Currently, it is under development.
