Kollywood star Suriya seems en route to mark a hattrick after his last two critically acclaimed films Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bheem as his vigilante action thriller starrer received a startling response on day 1.
The big-ticket film which is said to be made on a budget of Rs 75 crores, had already done the Rs 56 crores gross business from pre-release. It earned most from Tamilnadu (Rs 32 crore), followed by Karnataka and AP/TG (Rs 3.5 crore), Kerala (Rs 2.75crore), and from the Rest of India, it amassed Rs 2 crores. Suriya starrer raked in Rs 12 crore from the overseas market.

Ettharkkum Thunindhavan was released on 10 March 2022, with mixed to negative reviews from the critics, While Times of India, Firstpost, HT praising the film gave 3 out of 5 stars stating well-chosen topic with an amazing performance by the main lead, Pinkvilla, TIE, bashed the poor screenplay of the film.
Box Office Collection Day 1
But theatergoers seem to love the vigilante action avatar of Suriya in the film, in particular Tamil cine-goers, the film churned out a big Rs 15.21 crores gross at the Tamilnadu box office. Suriya starrer raked in Rs 30.54 crore gross at the box office worldwide on the opening day.
Clash might affect the Friday BO collections
Suriya-Pandiraj’s third collab is expected to pull more crowd at the ticket windows on Friday, however, it is facing a clash with the much-hyped pan India film Radhe Shyam. The latter also seems to do amazing business as its morning shows reported around 80% occupancy in the AP/TG region and the star power which Radhe Shyam holds, it will directly affect the show counts of Suriya starrer whereby the film could face loss to some extent regarding day 2 box office collection.

As per our early estimates, Pandiraj directorial could mint around Rs 25-28 crores at the box office worldwide on Friday.
