Bollywood’s talented actor Shahid Kapoor, who was last seen in the sports drama film Jersey, is ready to make his OTT debut with Amazon Prime’s upcoming web series titled Farzi.
While the series went on floor in 2021, it was officially announced in April 2022 at a special event hosted by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar at the JW Marriott in Mumbai.
Along with Farzi, over 40 other projects, including some new series and another season of some acclaimed shows, were also announced during the ‘Prime Video Presents India‘ showcase event.
Farzi Star Cast
Along with Kabir Singh actor Shahid Kapoor, the series also features Tamil megastar Vijay Sethupathi, called “Makkal Selvan” by his fans. He was recently seen in the action comedy film DSP, which underperformed at the box office.
The gorgeous Raashii Khanna is the leading lady in the series. In addition to the main cast, the series features promising actors such as Kay Kay Menon, Amol Palekar, Kubbra Sait, Regina Cassandra, Zakir Hussain, and Bhuvan Arora in key roles.
Farzi OTT Release Date
There has been high anticipation for Shahid Kapoor’s OTT debut with Amazon Prime’s crime thriller Farzi, ever since it was announced. Fans are eager to know when the celebrated filmmaker duo Raj & DK are going to deliver yet another promising series like The Family Man.
Well, the good news is that the series will premiere on 10 Feb 2023 on Amazon Prime Video. One of Much-Awaited OTT Releases, Farzi will be a fast-paced, edgy, and one-of-a-kind crime thriller, it will consist of 8 episodes.
Farzi Makers
Shahid Kapoor’s entry in the OTT arena will be under the direction of popular filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., also known as Raj & DK, who rose to fame for creating and directing Amazon Prime’s blockbuster hit spy thriller series Family Man, starring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role.
Apart from that, Raj & DK also created the comedy horror film Stree, the 2014 film Happy Ending, the 2020 anthology film Unpaused, and directed movies like Go Goa Gone, Shor in the City, and 99.
The filmmaker duo is also backing this project under the banner of D2R Films. Sita R. and Sumar Kumar are co-writers, while the dialogues are written by Hussain Dalal and Raghav Dutt.
Farzi First Look
On April 28, 2022, the official Twitter handle of Amazon Prime Video unveiled the first look of its upcoming drama series Farzi. The poster features Shahid in a rugged look, sitting on a chair in a room and working on something very serious (as we can tell by seeing his expressions).
In the background, we also see some of the paintings. The caption described the series as a “fast-paced”, “edgy, one-of-a-kind thriller,” and Shahid is playing a fiery task force officer who is on a mission to save the country from dangers and threats.
Farzi Trailer Out
Amazon Prime Video has finally unveiled the trailer of its highly anticipated web series Farzi, the OTT debut of Shahid Kapoor under Raj and DK.
The nearly 3-minute-long trailer looks promising, and it features Shahid Kapoor as Sunny, a brilliant small-town artist who, through his artistic talent, enters the high-stakes world of counterfeiting to publish fake currency notes in order to earn a huge amount of money.
“Makkal Selvan” Vijay Sethupathi enters the scene as an unorthodox task officer, Michael, who is on a mission to expose this counterfeit note scandal. The series explores the thrilling cat-and-mouse race between Sunny and Michael.
