Zac Efron will soon be back on the big screen with his American Science fiction supernatural horror film, which is going to be released in the upcoming days.
The film is the reboot of Mark L. Listen’s 1984 science-fiction drama of the same name which starred David Keith in the lead role.
The story of the film was based on the sci-fi horror drama novel Firestarter, which was written by American author Stephen King and published in September 1980.
The novel was nominated as best novel for various awards including the British Fantasy Award, Locus Poll Award, Balrog Award, etc.
Firestarter Theatrical and OTT Release
This much-hyped horror drama will hit the big screen on May 13, 2022, in the United States of America and it will be distributed by Universal Pictures.
It will also have its digital streaming the same day through America’s over-the-top streaming service platform Peacock.

The filming of the film commenced on May 25, 2021, and it took place in Toronto and Hamilton cities of Ontario, Canada. The entire shoot was wrapped up on July 16, 2021.

The makers of the movie released the trailer of this most-awaited supernatural thriller on Wednesday, 9th February 2022. Along with the film’s trailer, a poster was also dropped which is reminiscent of the original (1984) adaptation of the movie.
Zac Efron is playing the role of a father of a young girl Charlie (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), who developed pyrokinesis, a psychic ability that allows a person to create and control fire with the mind.
Due to her extraordinary power of controlling the fire, she was haunted by sinister forces that intended to capture and control her.

Firestarter Makers
The film is directed by Keith Thomas while the screenplay is written by Scott Teems. In April 2017, when the film was announced, Akiva Goldsman was the first choice for the director.
Later, in June 2018 he was replaced by Fatih Akin, but again Fatih was also replaced and Keith Thomas was signed as the director of the film.
It is jointly bankrolled by Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman under the banners of Blumhouse Productions, Weed Road Pictures, BoulderLight Pictures, and Angry Adam Productions.
If we talk about technical work, the cinematography is handled by Karim Hussain and the film has music by John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter, and Daniel Davies. The distribution rights are bagged by Universal Pictures.
