Ranbir’s Brahmastra continues to perform well at the ticket counters and it looks like, it has broken the 2 months BO drought of Bollywood. The film has entered its second week and still dominating the box office.
Mid-week release Silambarasan starrer Tamil movie “Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu” or “VTK” also faring well in the Tamil Nadu state. Talking about the box office Telugu while Oke Oka Jeevitham clears the distributor’s shares emerging as the 13th clean hit this year, other Friday releases bombed there.
Last week saw mixed success on OTT platforms as well, Akshay’s Cuttputlli falls flat, on the other Criminal Justice with a new episode every Friday, and Rings of Power has glued the viewers to the screens. This week, we have high expectations from domestic releases as some refreshing titles seem to come our way.
So let us take a look at these Friday releases at the box office or on the OTT platforms:
1- Dhokha-Round D Corner
R Madhavan fresh from the success of Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, is back with a suspense thriller titled Dhokha: Round D Corner. It stars Madhavan and debutante Khushali Kumar as a happily Married couple. Arriving in cinemas on Sept 23. The trailer promises an intriguing suspense thriller.
2- Chup
Chup is a psychological thriller, which stars Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwanthary in the main lead. R Balki directed the flick and it is bankrolled by late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Jayantilal Gada, Anil Naidu and Gauri Shinde under Hope Production.
3- Prem Geet 3
Pradeep Khadka-Kristina Gurung starrer first Indo-Nepali movie Prem Geet 3 is gearing to hit the screens this Friday. It is the third installment in the superhit franchise Prem Geet. Produced by Santhosh Sen and directed by Chhetan Gurung and Santosh Sen. It will see a wide release worldwide on Sept 23 and will simultaneously release in Hindi.
4- Babli Bouncer
Tamanna Bhatia is playing a bindaas, badass desi Pehelwan in her upcoming film titled Babli Bouncer. It also stars veteran actor Saurabh Shukla, and CKA fame Abhishek Bajaj in key roles. Set to stream on 23 September 2022 on Disney+Hotstar in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
5- Krishna Vrinda Vihari
Long awaited Telugu film “Krishna Vrinda Vihari” is all set to grace the silver screens on Sept 23. The romantic comedy stars Naga Shaurya and Shirley Shetia in the main leads while it also has Radhika Sarathkumar, Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji, Satya and Rahul Ramakrishna in key roles.
6- Atithi Bhooto Bhava
The rom-com Atithi Devo Bhava revolves around Srikant Shirodkar, a stand-up comedian which is being played by Pratik Gandhi (Scam 1992), and directed by Hardik Gajjar. It will be direct to digital release on Zee 5, this Friday. Along with Pratik, it stars Jackie Shroff and Sharmin Segal in pivotal roles.
7- Avatar
The highest grosser movie of all time Avatar is gearing to re-release in theatres on Sept 23, it comes 3 months before the arrival of its much-anticipated sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water”, which was earlier tentatively titled Avatar 2.
8- Lou
Lou is an action thriller and features the oscar winner Allison Janney in the main lead. It will start streaming on Sept 23 on Netflix. It is directed by Anna Foerster and written by Maggie Cohn and Jack Stanley and produced by J.J. Abram, Hannah Minghella and Jon.
