Last week’s released movies failed to make a mark at the box office, among all the outings Sunny Deol-Dulquer starrer Chup, and the 2009 Avatar fared well, that too on the lower side.
On the other, Brahmastra continues to dominate the box office and recently went past 400 crores worldwide gross. It will be interesting to watch which upcoming outing will give tough competition to the Ranbir starrer.
However, there are many big-ticket upcoming films slated to release this week which could give stiff competition to Ayan Mukerji’s visual spectacle. On the other, there are multiple releases on OTT platforms also.

1- Vikram Vedha
The much hyped 2022 neo-noir action thriller Vikram Vedha will be gracing the big screens this Friday, the advance bookings for the same commenced on Saturday, ahead 7 days of the release. And the film is having excellent advance bookings, it is expected to surpass the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 advances of Rs 6.70 Cr gross for day 1. It stars Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan and is all set to take a double-digit start at the box office.
2- Ponniyin Selvan:1
The long-awaited Pan India film of the Tamil industry Ponniyin Selvan’s part one will be released on Sept 30th. It is mounted on a huge scale and features a multi-star cast. The music and the trailer of the movie have already created much hype ahead of the release. It will be released in 5 Indian languages Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. It will face a clash with Hrithik-Saif’s Vikram Vedha in the Hindi market.
3- Kantara
Kantara is produced by KGF 2 makers and is directed and starred by Rishabh Shetty. As per cinema express, it will be released in 250+ theatres in Karnataka. It stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, and Achyuth Kumar apart from Rishab who will be seen playing the main lead. It will be released worldwide on Friday in Kannada language only.
4- Plan A Plan B-Nettlix
Riteish Deshmukh-Tamannaah Bhatia starrer Plan A Plan B will have a direct-to-digital release on Friday. It will be premiered on Netflix and is a romantic comedy flick. Written by Rajan Arora and backed by Trilok Malhotra and K.R. Harish. Watch Riteish and Tamannaah as Kaushtubh and Nirali Vora this Friday only on Netflix.
5- Captain Tamil Movie
Sept 8 release Tamil movie Captain, which didn’t find many buyers at the box office will be debuting on the OTT platform Zee5 on Friday. It was opened to mixed reviews from critics praising the VFX, cinematography, and the performance of the main lead. The sci-fi action thriller features Arya and Aishwarya Lakshmi as central characters. And also stars Kavya Shetty, Harish Uthaman, and Simran.
6- Hocus Pocus 2 Disney+
The American supernatural comedy flick Hocus Pocus 2 was released on Sept 30th on Disney+Hotstar, directed by Anne Fletcher. It features Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Majimy. It is backed by Adam Shankman, Lynn Harris, and Steven Haft under the banner of Walt Disney Pictures, David Kirschner Productions.
7- Rainbow
Netflix’s coming-of-age film Rainbow is a modern tale of a teenager’s journey which is loosely inspired by the classic novel,” The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”. It stars Dora, Ayax Pedrosa, Wekafore Jibril, Luis Bermejo and Carmen Maura in the lead roles, arriving on Netflix on Sept 30th.
